In gratitude and recognition of the impact that the School University Partnership for Peer Communities of Learners SUP4PCL EU project had on teachers and schools, on September 8th, 2020, the New Cairo Director of the Ministry of Education Directorate presented Professor Malak Zaalouk with an award. The new Cairo directorate was not in the original plan for the partnership but as the project grew, expanded and showed success several of the teachers and schools in the older professional development schools as well as faculty from university shared and disseminated their learning to new directorates and new schools. The journey continues

The project PI led a remote training project on school-based reform in 27 governorates of the MOETE with emphasis on the formations of PCLs and action research

In 2019, a committee headed by the PI was formed in the SCU and has been working diligently on how to mainstream and sustain the outcomes of school university partnerships. In 2020, the committee wrote a full document which had detailed directives on the level of structures, legal amendments and policies that were needed for both the schools under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and the universities under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education to form partnerships and promote Peer Communities of Learners PCLs. The policy recommendations were mainly viewed as incentivizing measures to encourage university faculty and teachers at school to continue the practice of holding PCLs and also to support the partnership strategy between both institutions. The legal and structural changes were more compelling requiring higher level interventions at the level of the prime minister. The resulting document was shared with the supreme council authorities in February 2020
The School and University Partnership for Peer Communities of Learners (SUP4PCL) team enthusiastically disseminated the core of the project during The Erasmus+ Event. This event was held in Alexandria on the 10th of October. SUP4PCL has succeeded in establishing a number of innovative strategies aiming to set the reform in motion and create a profound educational and cultural transformation in preparation for taking it to the larger scale.

On Thursday 13 of June, Prof. Malak Zaalouk was invited to participate in the sixth international conference for quality assurance by the National Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Education NAQAAE. Prof. Malak presented a paper on school university partnership and also joined the closing session to suggest what direction should Egypt take during the year of education.
